What Regie.gg stores, about whom and where.

A description of what the software does, not boilerplate. Checked against the code on 22 October 2026.

Everything lives on the organiser's PC

Regie.gg is a local application. Tournaments, teams, players, matches, stats, HUD settings and highlights are stored in a database in that PC's user data folder, together with uploaded images and imported demos. None of it goes anywhere: there is no telemetry, no analytics and no user accounts on a Regie.gg service.

Other people's data

To referee and broadcast a tournament, the application stores data about the participating players: their in-game identifier (such as their SteamID), the name they play under and, if entered, their real name, country and photo, as well as their stats. The organiser stores this data on their PC and is responsible for it towards the players: what they tell them, how long they keep it and who they show it to. The application provides the tools to display and delete it, but does not decide on the organiser's behalf.

External services

The application does not communicate with any Regie.gg service. It communicates with third parties when asked to, using the organiser's credentials, and in two cases on its own (the first two):

  • Steam, to find out whether a Counter-Strike 2 patch has been released: at start-up and every 30 minutes, only the server's version number is sent.
  • flagcdn.com, for flags: the image is requested using the country code, and that site sees the IP address of the PC displaying the page.
  • Steam and SteamCMD, to download or update the Counter-Strike 2 dedicated server.
  • GitHub, to download the third-party components listed in the third-party licences.
  • FACEIT, only when importing a match, using an API key belonging to the organiser.
  • OBS, on the local network, with the password set by the organiser.
  • The keys and passwords for those services are stored on the organiser's PC.

The public API

If the organiser creates a public API key so that a website or a bot can read their tournaments, anyone holding that key can read what the API exposes: tournaments, standings, matches, players and rankings. Keys are created and revoked from the console, and are stored hashed, so a leaked copy of the database does not reveal them.

What the application writes outside its folder

Only what it needs in order to work, and because the organiser asks for it:

  • A configuration file in the Counter-Strike 2 client, so that the game sends the match state to the application on the same PC.
  • The server folder chosen, where the server and its add-ons are installed.
  • The Counter-Strike 1.6 and Call of Duty 4 radars, which are extracted from the files of the game already installed.
